waiora
The inspiration for Waiora came from the owners interest in the iconic 1930s ‘Mandel House’ in upstate New York which is acknowledged to be one of the best examples of the “international style”. Gary Catt visited the house to study both the detailing & the “feeling”. Waiora follows the style rules of a flat roof, smooth and uniform wall surfaces, lack of applied ornament, asymmetrical composition, rounded promontories and an emphasis on horizontality, projecting balconies and wide expanses of ribbon windows.
